Receipt of the first LNG to cool and test the facilities - 2011
Actual operations will begin with the arrival of the first LNG carrier. Once the ship has been moored and the unloading arms have been connected, the pipes in the discharge system will be filled with LNG. The first storage tank will be cooled slowly (over several days). Once it has been cooled evenly to the required temperature, the remainder of the carrier’s cargo will be discharged.
In this phase, the terminal will not yet be able to supply natural gas to the national transmission network and excess gas will have to be flared off in the first few days. The vaporisation system will then be gradually cooled and taken into operation so that the first LNG can be pressurised and vaporised and the flare can be extinguished. In the next two months or so, all the systems will be calibrated and tested. The terminal will finally undergo a complete performance test to verify its capacity.
