Regasification and transmission safety

After regasification of the LNG, the natural gas will leave the terminal via an underground line connected to the existing high pressure network. In principle, the existing gas transmission network has sufficient capacity. Gas Transport Services (GTS), an independent pipeline operator and wholly-owned subsidiary of Gasunie, will continually monitor the necessary capacity and adapt it when required. Nitrogen will not be added at the terminal but at Gasunie’s metering and control station in Pernis.

The natural gas odorant will not be added until the gas leaves the main transmission network and enters the regional network.

Since the LNG terminal is a closed system, no gas will be emitted into the atmosphere during normal operation.
