Advantages of LNG

The volume of LNG is 600 times less than that of gaseous natural gas. In its liquefied form, natural gas is easy to transport in large volumes over long distances. This is particularly important for countries that have substantial natural gas reserves but do not have the infrastructure necessary to distribute the gas to consumer markets. Furthermore, better use can be made of natural gas that would otherwise be flared off (“associated gas” that is a by-product of oil extraction).
